Chad Derusseau is originally from Lawrence, KS and a diehard Kansas Jayhawk fan his whole life – no one is perfect. As a true fan, Chad even attended the University of Kansas as an undergraduate, graduating in 1997. He and his wife Cory moved to the Sandhills area shortly after college.
His professional career began at Talamore in Southern Pines in 1997 and Chad received his PGA membership in 2000. He joined Legacy in 2001 as the head professional. He is currently working on a Master’s Degree in Business at East Carolina University. Married for 14 years, Chad and Cory have a son Connor, who is seven and a daughter Chloe, who is five.
When asked to recall one of his favorite experiences at Legacy, Chad quickly responded, “Playing golf with Roy Williams, Matt Doherty and PGA Professional Randy Towner. At the time Roy was still the coach at KU and Matt was the coach at UNC. Randy Towner was the golf pro at the course I grew up on in Kansas and was my teaching pro when I was a junior golfer.” Overseeing the recent course renovations has strengthened Chad’s management skills and positions Legacy for many years of great play ahead.
