One cool playground adjacent to the quaint village of Pinehurst is Cannon Park and loads of place to climb, swing, and act like a kid. There is also plenty of open space for soccer, Frisbee or kite flying.

A walk in the woods might be just what you need and one of the best places in the state for fresh air and great trails is Weymouth Woods State Nature Preserve. See an endangered red cockaded woodpecker while you hike through the last of the great longleaf pine forest.

Neat eats downtown for kids of all ages, and especially enticing for teens there are soda shops, ice cream parlors, spicy authentic Mexican fare and pizza joints (even great sushi if that's your thing) all in the quaint downtowns of Pinehurst, Southern Pines, and Aberdeen. Priced right and super casual youll be glad the kids are with you when you visit!
