From August 30th - September 5, 2010, "Moore on the Menu" invites the public to try the diverse culinary options in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area at a special price. Local independently-owned restaurants (including Ashten's) will offer a four-course Prix Fixe dinner for $35 per person. Several will also offer a three-course Prix Fixe lunch to include an appetizer OR dessert, entree and beverage. Reservations are required. Please call each restaurant for more information. Ashten's Wins Best Dish in North Carolina Competition: |
An anonymous panel of judges spent the summer traveling to 20 restaurants to find the best fine dining and casual dining dishes that use North Carolina products. Ashten's in Southern Pines was the winner in the Fine Dining category.
Ashten's winning dishes — Asparagus strudel, NC mountain trout salad, Council Farms egg drop soup, braised rainbow farm lamb shoulder, and pecan polenta cake with strawberries.
The Best Dish in NC competition is an annual statewide contest that recognizes and rewards the efforts of restaurants and chefs who use North Carolina products regularly in their menus.

Florian Bellanger wears a stern face as judge of Food Network's current season of "Cupcake Wars." Over Labor Day Weekend, guests of Pinehurst's 22nd annual Food and Wine Festival will have a chance to judge him. Village of Pinehurst: An Historic Walking Tour: |
Tufts Archives and the Convention & Visitor Bureau - Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area have teamed up to develop and publish "Village of Pinehurst: An Historic Walking Tour". This compact book describes four easily accessible walking tours of the Village of Pinehurst as well as a slightly longer driving tour. Golfweek Releases 2010 "Best" Lists: |
Golfweek's 2010 list of Best Public Access Golf Courses in North Carolina includes seven courses in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area. Only ten courses in all were listed for North Carolina. To qualify a golf course must make itself available to the general public.

The North Carolina Golf Panel released their 2010 list of Top 100 Golf Courses in North Carolina in the March 2010 issue of BUSINESS NORTH CAROLINA. Among the Top 10 in the state were five Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area golf courses:

Magazine's Premier Resorts ranking, the Platinum category showcases
the properties at the pinnacle, followed closely by the Gold and Silver
medalists. Two golf resorts in our area made the list.

• Silver - Pine Needles, Southern Pines, NC
In the "Best in Your Area" rankings for the Southeast, Pinehurst Resort was #2 and Pine Needles was #5. Congratulations!

USGA Announces U.S. Women’s and Men’s Opens Both at Pinehurst in 2014: |
In an unprecedented move, the United States Golf Association announced that in 2014 the U.S. Women’s Open, for the first time, will immediately follow the U.S. Open Championship on the same venue, Pinehurst No. 2, from June 12 to June 22. The venerable Donald Ross course will become the only golf venue to host the Men’s and Women’s Opens, the U.S. Amateurs (Men’s and Women’s), and the U.S. Senior Open Championships.
