Pinehurst No. 2 Again Ranks as NC's Best Golf Course:

The North Carolina Golf Panel released their 2010 list of Top 100 Golf Courses in North Carolina in the March 2010 issue of BUSINESS NORTH CAROLINA. Among the Top 10 in the state were five Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area golf courses:

5. Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club
6. Country Club of North Carolina (Dogwood)
8. Forest Creek Golf Club (South)
10. Pinehurst No. 4

Village of Pinehurst: An Historic Walking Tour:

Tufts Archives and the Convention & Visitor Bureau - Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area have teamed up to develop and publish "Village of Pinehurst: An Historic Walking Tour". This compact book describes four easily accessible walking tours of the Village of Pinehurst as well as a slightly longer driving tour. Golf Magazine Releases List of 2010 Premier Resorts:

In the 11th edition of Golf Magazine's Premier Resorts ranking, the Platinum category showcases the properties at the pinnacle, followed closely by the Gold and Silver medalists. Two golf resorts in our area made the list.

  •  Platinum - Pinehurst Resort, Pinehurst, NC

  •  Silver - Pine Needles, Southern Pines, NC

In the "Best in Your Area" rankings for the Southeast, Pinehurst Resort was #2 and Pine Needles was #5. Congratulations!

Golf Magazine Releases 2009 List of Top 100 Courses in the U.S.:

The Golf Magazine lists are the most thorough and respected rankings in golf and a celebration of the greatest courses on the planet. In 2009 only two golf courses in North Carolina made the list, and one of them is located right here in The Home of American Golf. To see the complete list click here.

Pinehurst No. 2 also made the 2009 list of the Top 100 Courses in the World, coming in at #19.

USGA Announces U.S. Women’s and Men’s Opens Both at Pinehurst in 2014:

In an unprecedented move, the United States Golf Association announced that in 2014 the U.S. Women’s Open, for the first time, will immediately follow the U.S. Open Championship on the same venue, Pinehurst No. 2, from June 12 to June 22. The venerable Donald Ross course will become the only golf venue to host the Men’s and Women’s Opens, the U.S. Amateurs (Men’s and Women’s), and the U.S. Senior Open Championships.

Golfweek Releases 2009 "Best" Lists:

Golfweek's 2009 list of the Best Courses You Can Play in North Carolina includes seven golf courses in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area. Only ten courses in all were listed for North Carolina. To qualify a golf course must make itself available to the general public.

6. Mid Pines

Golf Digest Includes Pinehurst No. 2 in List of America's Best:

Golf Digest's May 2009 issue contains its list of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses for 2009/2010. Only 4 golf courses in North Carolina made the list - among them Pinehurst No.2 which came in at #32. The Golf Digest ranking, the oldest in golf, was established in 1966, and includes both public and private golf courses across the country.

Golf Digest 2008 "Best Places To Play" Ratings:

In 2008, all 31 of the golf courses rated in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area were given 3-stars or greater, and 74% of those (or 23 courses) were rated 4-stars or better.
