The Treasure Hunt Begins on March 20th and Goes Through the end of May or when all the Pinecones have been found!

Did you know that 2023 is the Year of the Trail throughout all of North Carolina? All 100 counties in the Great Trails State will be showcasing special programs throughout this year to commemorate the Year of the Trail and invite visitors and residents to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.

In Moore County, the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) has several programs to share, and one of them is the Pinecone Pathways Program. The CVB has partnered with glassmakers from Starworks in Star, NC to create a specially-made mold to produce a limited run of 100 glass pinecones. These colorful pinecones – which look exactly like the ones pictured on this page – will be hidden along trails throughout Moore County starting in March.
