Events to Kick-Off U.S. Women’s Open Week

Tarheel Festivals, in conjunction with the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, is launching a pair of unique events to help celebrate the return of the U.S. Women’s Open this spring at Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club.
Village of Pinehurst Family Fest | May 30 | 10:00am-5:00pm | The Fair Barn & Pinehurst Harness Track

Join us for the Village of Pinehurst Family Fest on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, at the Fair Barn and Harness Track from 10:00am-5:00pm. Family Fest includes a full day of live music by three female acts: Autumn Nicholas, Caroline & Company and blues-based rock band Sayer McShane, a skydiving jump by the Black Daggers of Fort Bragg, a Kids’ Zone with massive inflatables (pay as you go or all day passes available), North Carolina’s premier video game truck, activation games and challenges from the First Tee of the Sandhills, a photo booth hosted by the USGA with the U.S. Women’s Open trophy on hand, various food and beverage offerings to include beer, wine, ice cream and shaved ice, and various vendors.
Advance tickets to Family Fest are $10 each for adults ($15 at the gate), and kids 17 and under are free. Tickets for active-duty and retired military veterans, their spouses and children are free with military ID. On-site parking is also free. Mark your calendars for A Taste of North Carolina: Whiskey & Wine on Thursday, June 2 at Agora Bakery & Café from 6:00pm-8:00pm. This event will feature North Carolina-based bourbon and whiskey along with wine offerings from the Surry County Wine Trail. Food samples will be provided by award-winning chef David Gaydeski, North Carolina Executive Mansion’s chef for over a decade and current owner of eclectic restaurant Brookland Eats in Roxboro. Gaydeski will be joined by Agora Bakery’s pastry chef.
