The North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame celebrates and promotes the state’s rich literary heritage by commemorating its leading authors and encouraging the continued flourishing of great literature. Inaugurated in 1996 under the leadership of Poet Laureate Sam Ragan, the North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame is a program of the North Carolina Writers’ Network. The Hall of Fame is located at the Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities in Southern Pines, in the upstairs study where the late James Boyd (1888-1944) wrote his critically acclaimed historical novels Drums and Marching On. October 16, 2022 will see the postponed induction of the 2020 honorees, Anthony S. Abbott, Charles Frazier, Bland Simpson, Max Steele, Carole Boston Weatherford.
