Your day will begin with a tour of the Malcolm Blue Farm, an 1825 Scottish farm in Aberdeen which features a museum, restored farmhouse, and gristmill. Down the road visit the 1790 Bethesda Church, which features Old Slave Gallery, exterior bullet holes from Civil War battle, and graves of area pioneer settlers.
Continue to the Historic District of Aberdeen and visit antiques shops and art galleries.
Visit the Shaw House properties in Southern Pines for a tour of the three historic homes located on site. The tour will give you a glimpse of daily life of early county settlers 1770-1850.
Then lunch in one of the quaint restaurants along Broad Street in historic Southern Pines. A few blocks from downtown Southern Pines, visit Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities, located on Connecticut Avenue. It is the former home of author James Boyd, now home to the NC Literary Hall of Fame and a center for many concerts, lectures, and other cultural activities. The tour of this early 1900’s home will include the many rooms, gardens and the Hall of Fame on the 2nd floor.
