Myrtle Beach Based Firm to Develop New Campaigns for the Home of American Golf
PINEHURST, NC (January 31, 2019) – The Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has named The Brandon Agency as their advertising agency of record. The Myrtle Beach (SC) based firm will assist the CVB with some marketing initiatives in an effort to increase visitation to the destination not just for golf, but for a growing list of lifestyle options like shopping, dining, burgeoning craft beer scene, historic tours and more. Agency services will include a new advertising campaign, new website, a deeper social media engagement across multiple channels and more effective digital marketing campaigns.
“It’s time to take this destination to the next level and appeal to more than just the hardcore golfer to entice leisure and business travelers to choose our area to spend their time and money,” said Phil Werz, president and CEO of the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. “While golf is the life blood of this destination and its primary DNA as the ‘Home of American Golf,’ we are growing as a choice for all travelers and we want to highlight the variety of options we have here, plus the ones we will create in the years to come.”
“We are very excited to be working with Phil and his team at the Pinehurst, Southern Pines and Aberdeen Area CVB, said Scott Brandon, CEO, The Brandon Agency. “The Pinehurst area is an iconic brand and we look forward to leveraging our deep experience in promoting golf destinations and overall travel to generate increased awareness and visitation to the Home of American Golf.”
The new creative campaign for the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen area is expected to launch some time in the spring with the new website to follow this summer. Boosted social media efforts on a multitude of channels will start in February.
The CVB operates on the collection of a three percent occupancy tax derived from visitors to hotels and some short-term rental units in Moore County. In the current fiscal year that started July 1, 2019 through November, Moore County has seen a 9.9 percent increase in occupancy tax collections in the destination, or slightly more than $2 million for the same period.
“Our goal is to build off the positive momentum we are seeing so far this fiscal year,” said Werz. “With the new tools we will add to market the destination to a broader audience and some new opportunities we will reveal later this year, our area is poised to bolster our places as one of the top tourism destinations in the state for years to come.”
