Our four 300 foot baseball/softball fields with field house and concession stand  are joined by the addition of a Recreation Center and Splash Pad.  The new center houses indoor basketball courts that provides a great place for pickleball and other indoor events.

What are the hours of operation for the Splash Pad?

The Splash Pad is open seasonally.  Hours of operation from 10 am to 6pm. Reopening May 21, 2022

An Open-Air Reception Venue

This outdoor area connects Owens Auditorium and the McPherson Theater to provide an open courtyard for hosting pre- and post-event receptions under the sun and stars. The courtyard features a small outdoor stage as a focal point for announcements or as a place to create immersive experiences with live performances.

A True Black Box Theater Experience

Popular since the 1920’s, Black Box Theaters are known for their flexibility and simple design. This unique space offers the ability to transform a scene through flexible staging and a variety of lighting configurations.

​More importantly, a Black Box Theater serves the greater purpose of connecting the audience to the performers in a purposeful and uninterrupted way.

​This 80-seat venue is an ideal setting for one-act plays, oratory competitions, poetry slams, musical artists, rehearsals, recitals, lectures, and so much more.

In 1978 the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens became a reality with the establishment of the Ebersole Holly Garden. Over the years, additional gardens have been implemented, including the Rose Garden, the Conifer Garden, the Sir Walter Raleigh Garden, the Hillside Garden, the Fruit & Vegetable Garden, and the Desmond Native Wetland Trail Garden. Today the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens cover twenty-seven acres. They are open to the public every day of the year from dawn to sunset and offer an educational adventure to anyone with an interest in plants, nature, and design composition.

This is also a great location for weddings! 

The renovated Historic Southern Pines Train Station includes a passenger waiting area for Amtrak customers, the Southern Pines Welcome Center, and a multipurpose room that can be used for parties, classes, or meetings. The station is located in the heart of Downtown Southern Pines and is a centerpiece for the hub of activity that surrounds it. An unusual feature is that the railroad tracks bisect the main street of town.

The Sunrise Theater has evolved into a thriving performing arts center offering the very best in independent films, community theater, dance and music. The theater strives to present entertainment for all ages and tastes, showcasing both local and national talent. Available for rent to individuals, groups, schools, etc. the theater has been used for fundraisers, benefits and even weddings!

The Village Arboretum was established in 2003 and developed by the Village Heritage Foundation. The newest addition to the Arboretum is the Timmel Pavilion and was completed May 2013. The Magnolia Garden, Pergola Garden and Timmel Pavilion are available to rent for wedding ceremonies, receptions, rehearsal dinners and other special events. Please call (910) 295-1900 for rates.

A small town venue with an urban feel. 305 Trackside is an industrial chic event venue located in the Historic Seaboard Freight Depot building in the heart of downtown Southern Pines, NC. Original wood plank floors, exposed bricks walls, 6 oversized sliding barn doors, exposed trussed ceilings, and 1,500 square feet of covered outdoor patio space all make this venue an unforgettable backdrop for any event!

The Train House is used for Southern Pines Recreation programs and is available to rent for private events. It is handicap accessible and includes a small stage. Rental includes approximately 12 tables and 75 folding chairs and free Wi-Fi. There is no kitchen.
