About Sandhills Central Railroad Club
The Sandhills Central Railroad Club was founded in 1979 by a group of railroad enthusiasts and modelers who shared a common love of railroads and railroad modeling. Currently the club has dismantled the layout that was in the basement of the Campbell house in Southern Pines which had been operated there since 1987. The club moved some of the layout to the Aberdeen Union Station in 2007 and is currently operating but undergoing continued construction and modification. The Aberdeen layout depicts portions of Main, South, and Poplar streets, in addition to State routes US 1 and US 5.
Starworks is our amazing creators behind our beautiful glass blown pinecones. Starworks is a project of Central Park NC, a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization based in rural central North Carolina. The mission of CPNC is to grow a new rural economy based on the sustainable use of the natural and cultural resources of the region. Starworks is an arts-centered work community that promotes community and economic development by providing outstanding artistic educational programs and business ventures. We strive to engage the community with artwork and artists of the highest caliber.
In rural areas, residents often live in cultural deserts. Too often access to the arts is limited to a narrow range of artistic vision, vernacular imagery, and craft styles. Through strategic partnerships with other artists, arts organizations, and businesses, Starworks has been working to increase the diversity of artistic experiences available by bringing nationally and internationally known artists for demonstrations, classes, lectures and to make new works of art. Our programs are targeted to professional makers, with additional programming for young adults and children.
STARworks Glass is a public access glass studio that offers rental space for glass artists, classes and workshops for the general public, a resident artist and internship program, and high school and college glass curriculum. In addition to fundraisers like our Pumpkin Patch and Holiday Ornament Sale, STARworks Glass also holds free demonstrations on the second Thursday of each month at Hot Glass Cold Beer. Learn more.
STARworks Ceramics uses native NC wild clays to produce clay bodies that are manufactured with a filter press on site. We also sell pottery supplies and equipment. In addition to our STARworks clays, we offer both Highwater and Standard clays, and tools and equipment from Shimpo, Cone Art Kilns, Mudtools, AMACO, Kemper Tools and Orton. Learn more.
STARworks Clay Studio offers a residency program for ceramic artists. Our facilities allow for large workshop spaces placed side by side, supporting a collaborative and energetic educational environment. In addition to the residency program, STARworks Clay studio offers classes and workshops for adults. Learn more.

Located in the heart of the Carolina Sandhills, home of the long leaf pine, world-class golf and top equestrian activities, Cameron, North Carolina is a small farming town, proud to be included in the National Register of Historic Sites.
Born of a Plank Road, nurtured by a Railroad, and spurred on by the turpentine and dewberry industries, Cameron prospered in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The dewberry industry played an important role in this prosperity. Hundreds of acres of Dewberries were cultivated and shipped by rail to northern markets where, being larger and sweeter than a blackberry, they were very much in demand. Cameron hustled and bustled during the busy harvest seasons. All hotels were filled for auctions and fairs, and the town lived up to its name, The Dewberry Capital of the World.
Though the trains no longer stop as they pass through the town and dewberries are not grown on a large scale anymore, Cameron has become a destination for serious collectors, decorators, trades persons, and those just interested in local history.
Cameron was voted “Best Antique Area in North Carolina” by Our State Magazine, and “Best Antique Area in Moore County” by The Pilot Newspaper. Also featured in Southern Living Magazine, Cameron boasts several antique shops and is well worth the visit. Plan your trip soon to spend the day, enjoy lunch, and have a great antiquing experience.

Both born and raised in North Carolina, Ryan and Namaste were greatly influenced by their parents love of gardening and indoor/outdoor plants. They learned that you can never, ever have too many plants!!!
Namaste grew up in the foothills spending much of her time exploring the outdoors. She developed a love of plants as a kid, seeking serenity within grounds she ventured. Her love for plants grew more and more, as she grew older. Her countless frolics to her favorite gardens at Reynolda Village in Winston-Salem, was significantly influential. Some days were just too nice to go to her near by high school, so she ended up at these gardens instead……..and never got caught! She has worn numerous hats in the horticulture biz over the years. Being a grower and watching a plant grow and flourish, especially from a seed or cutting, has been most fulfilling for her. It is the simple things that makes us happiest. She has been in the horticultural industry for over 20 years. Namaste is the grower…….and the plant fanatic.
Ryan is from the Sandhills area. He was born with a hammer in one hand and a fishing pole in his other hand. His love of the outdoors and nature keeps him inspired and motivated to create. Ryan has a construction business focusing on all aspects of home renovations. In his spare time, what he really enjoys is creating his own unique pieces of woodwork. He builds tables, stools and benches, either traditional or rustic style. He loves to make wooden swords and hammers, along with beautiful custom canoe paddles. From furnishings, to toys and arbors, he can produce anything. He is an artist in his own right. Ryan is the creator….which means Namaste has a list of never ending projects.
Together with Namaste’s horticulture background and Ryan being a highly skilled carpenter, they decided to build a greenhouse. Designed from scratch, this one-of-a-kind greenhouse was built from salvaged sliding glass window inserts and cull lumber. In an attempt to find arrowheads in the creek bed, Ryan collected buckets on top of buckets of river rock for the footpath. Now, that is how to build a greenhouse on a shoestring budget! Along with their greenhouse, they try to keep honeybees. They bought their first hives in 2017. It has been a challenge, but very rewarding when you see a honeybee harvest pollen and nectar from your plants. The best part, though, is when you get your first taste of that honey! Outside of work, they still both love being outdoors in nature with their children, the birds, the trees and all the other wild things.
I have a nice selection of period and modern furniture, although it does not stop there. Many unusual and exciting “smalls” make up the bulk of my business. From pottery to fine decorative items, advertising signs, militaria, a great selection of vinyl albums in very nice condition (as I check and grade all of them). Antique toys, stained glass panels, etc. If I do not have it in stock, I will try my best to get it for you.
My days and hours of operation are Wed. thru Sat. 11-5 pm. Sat. 10-5 pm.
