Hi! I’m Jennifer. I grew up right here in Carthage, NC – nearby the golf capital of Pinehurst. My summers were spent mowing greens and fairways on local golf courses, where my passion for the outdoors and working in the dirt blossomed. This passion ultimately led to a degree in agronomy from NC State University (go Pack!) with a special interest in environmental stewardship. My husband and I made the decision to follow our love for the outdoors, and simpler times, by putting our roots down on our own farm – which has led to my flower farm dreams coming true. I’m so excited for this new journey in all things floriculture and I hope you’ll come along with me.

Seasonal blooms are available at our Flower Stand located at Shady Maple Farm! Come see us on Fridays from 9am – 1pm or Saturdays 9am-4pm!

Starworks is our amazing creators behind our beautiful glass blown pinecones. Starworks is a project of Central Park NC, a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization based in rural central North Carolina. The mission of CPNC is to grow a new rural economy based on the sustainable use of the natural and cultural resources of the region. Starworks is an arts-centered work community that promotes community and economic development by providing outstanding artistic educational programs and business ventures. We strive to engage the community with artwork and artists of the highest caliber.

In rural areas, residents often live in cultural deserts. Too often access to the arts is limited to a narrow range of artistic vision, vernacular imagery, and craft styles. Through strategic partnerships with other artists, arts organizations, and businesses, Starworks has been working to increase the diversity of artistic experiences available by bringing nationally and internationally known artists for demonstrations, classes, lectures and to make new works of art. Our programs are targeted to professional makers, with additional programming for young adults and children.

STARworks Glass is a public access glass studio that offers rental space for glass artists, classes and workshops for the general public, a resident artist and internship program, and high school and college glass curriculum. In addition to fundraisers like our Pumpkin Patch and Holiday Ornament Sale, STARworks Glass also holds free demonstrations on the second Thursday of each month at Hot Glass Cold Beer. Learn more.

STARworks Ceramics uses native NC wild clays to produce clay bodies that are manufactured with a filter press on site. We also sell pottery supplies and equipment. In addition to our STARworks clays, we offer both Highwater and Standard clays, and tools and equipment from Shimpo, Cone Art Kilns, Mudtools, AMACO, Kemper Tools and Orton. Learn more.

STARworks Clay Studio offers a residency program for ceramic artists. Our facilities allow for large workshop spaces placed side by side, supporting a collaborative and energetic educational environment. In addition to the residency program, STARworks Clay studio offers classes and workshops for adults. Learn more.

STARworks is also home to Wet Dog Glass, the most trusted and dependable equipment maker and consultant for glass artists and craftspeople worldwide. Learn more.

Both born and raised in North Carolina, Ryan and Namaste were greatly influenced by their parents love of gardening and indoor/outdoor plants. They learned that you can never, ever have too many plants!!!

Namaste grew up in the foothills spending much of her time exploring the outdoors. She developed a love of plants as a kid, seeking serenity within grounds she ventured. Her love for plants grew more and more, as she grew older. Her countless frolics to her favorite gardens at Reynolda Village in Winston-Salem, was significantly influential. Some days were just too nice to go to her near by high school, so she ended up at these gardens instead……..and never got caught! She has worn numerous hats in the horticulture biz over the years. Being a grower and watching a plant grow and flourish, especially from a seed or cutting, has been most fulfilling for her. It is the simple things that makes us happiest. She has been in the horticultural industry for over 20 years. Namaste is the grower…….and the plant fanatic.

Ryan is from the Sandhills area. He was born with a hammer in one hand and a fishing pole in his other hand. His love of the outdoors and nature keeps him inspired and motivated to create. Ryan has a construction business focusing on all aspects of home renovations. In his spare time, what he really enjoys is creating his own unique pieces of woodwork. He builds tables, stools and benches, either traditional or rustic style. He loves to make wooden swords and hammers, along with beautiful custom canoe paddles. From furnishings, to toys and arbors, he can produce anything. He is an artist in his own right. Ryan is the creator….which means Namaste has a list of never ending projects.

Together with Namaste’s horticulture background and Ryan being a highly skilled carpenter, they decided to build a greenhouse. Designed from scratch, this one-of-a-kind greenhouse was built from salvaged sliding glass window inserts and cull lumber. In an attempt to find arrowheads in the creek bed, Ryan collected buckets on top of buckets of river rock for the footpath. Now, that is how to build a greenhouse on a shoestring budget! Along with their greenhouse, they try to keep honeybees. They bought their first hives in 2017. It has been a challenge, but very rewarding when you see a honeybee harvest pollen and nectar from your plants. The best part, though, is when you get your first taste of that honey! Outside of work, they still both love being outdoors in nature with their children, the birds, the trees and all the other wild things.

I have a nice selection of period and modern furniture, although it does not stop there. Many unusual and exciting “smalls” make up the bulk of my business. From pottery to fine decorative items, advertising signs, militaria, a great selection of vinyl albums in very nice condition (as I check and grade all of them). Antique toys, stained glass panels, etc. If I do not have it in stock, I will try my best to get it for you.

My days and hours of operation are Wed. thru Sat. 11-5 pm. Sat. 10-5 pm.
