It’s that time again. Here are some fun things to do in the Sandhills this weekend!
On Saturday, September 18th from 10 am-5 pm its the annual Malcolm Blue Festival. Enjoy artisan crafts, blacksmithing, handcrafted jewelry and much more. Kids can ride in a horse drawn wagon, pet farm animals and even ride a pony. Plus, enjoy live entertainment and demonstrations throughout the day. Admission is $5 per person, $20 max per family and children under three are free. Head to the Malcolm Blue Farm in Aberdeen.
Also on Saturday from 5-9 pm, the Arboretum in the Village of Pinehurst hosts Eats, Beats and Brews. Enjoy fare from more than a dozen food trucks and a variety of local breweries and establishments offering locally made beverages. There will be live entertainment throughout the evening and kids activities for the little ones to enjoy. Admission is free.
If you love local theatre, the Encore Performing Arts Center will present Steel Magnolias on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 5pm. Visit encorecenter.net for more information and tickets, or call 910.725.0758.
And for something different, how about a Reptile Walkabout? It’s happening on Saturday, Sept. 18th at 10am at the Weymouth Woods Preserve. Join a ranger for a mile and a half hike to look for snakes, lizards, turtle and other reptiles that call the Sandhills home. After the hike, see a few of the critters up close, but safely. You must call ahead to join, so dial 910.692.2167 to register.
